Ayya Yeshe is a fully ordained nun since 2001. She is a contemplative, teacher and socially engaged activist and feminist. She is the director of Bodhicitta Foundation India (a charity helping ex “untouchable” Indian economically disadvantaged people). She is also abbess of Bodhicitta Dakini Monastery, Australia. Ayya wrote “Everyday Enlightenment” published by Harper Collins and has 95,000 hits on her sacred chants CD “Dakini.” Ayya’s maxim is: “Dont curse the darkness, light a candle.” (Gandhi). Ayya practices a fusion of Tibetan Buddhism and Theravada and her teachers include Thich Nhat Hanh, Bhante Sujato and the Dalai Lama.
